Get Your Girl to Watch Football

You know the drill: You want to watch the game, and she say it’s boring or wants to watch Gilmore Girls re-runs instead. While this is not true of every couple, many guys wish their wife or girlfriend would sit down and try to watch a football game with them – or at least not hide the remote or pout about it. There are a few different ways to entice her to get excited about the game. For instance, if you bet on the game, promise her that if your NFL picks win, she gets to go shopping with some of the money. For you, winning the bet is more about excitement and the thrill of victory anyway, right? If she has a stake in the game, too, she’s much more likely to get excited about it.
Women are usually more social and love to entertain, so if you make watching the game into a small gathering, she’s more likely to get involved. Rather than sitting in your basement alone dribbling chip crumbs on yourself, invite a few friends over and allow your girl the chance to show off her amazing seven-layer dip. You’ll get bonus points for helping clean up the house beforehand!
Be willing to try something she likes. You can even barter for these things; if she tries watching the game with you tonight, you will go to the ballet or the art museum with her next week. These types of things are a two-way street, and if she sees you’re willing to put forth an effort to enjoy the activities she loves, she will be more willing to reciprocate.
If all else fails, promise her that if she will sit down and watch the game with you, you will order take-out for dinner and clean up afterward. She might be happy enough to get out of cooking and cleaning up a big mess! As a bonus, surprise her by ordering a dessert she really loves. It will show her you appreciate her effort, and who wouldn’t love a sport that is associated with cheesecake?
